Magna Carta

I was delighted to be selected by the Embroiderers’ Guild to take part in the Magna Carta (An Embroidery), a major artwork by the acclaimed British artist Cornelia Parker that celebrated the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta in 2015.

My part of the project was to stitch part of the navigation bar, all text, and as I hadn’t done hand stitching for some time, this was very challenging to say the least. (These days I mostly work with my sewing machine.)

Once I started I found that it was very relaxing just to sit and take time to hand sew. It had been so long since I had done that.

I was very proud to take part in the project and have started to make a fabric paper book containing all of my memorabilia connected with this prestigious project.
